Folklore is a tool used to teach lessons and personify the traits we wish to see in ourselves. Through symbols we can begin to understand the people who created and told these tales. I like to explore these ideas as a way to deepen my understanding of myself and my own personal history. I am often drawn to the characters that represent the darker aspects of ourselves; the villains, witches and creatures. The confrontation of human nature most people do not want to recognize within themselves.
